  08/06/22 - SS Kamoi LaturSr/2025, Wisconsin

Wisconsin defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard needed to bolster depth at safety. Kamo'i Latu was looking for a new home after playing safety his first two seasons at Utah. UW outside linebacker Nick Herbig and Latu were high school teammates at Saint Louis School in Hawaii. Not surprisingly, Latu visited Madison in the last week of April and announced less than a week later he had committed to UW. "We grew up together," Latu said of his friendship with Herbig. "It played a big role. I trust what he said. "He told me that the culture here is family-oriented. That is all I am for - teamwork, family and getting each other better. "I took his word and now that I am here, I love it here." Latu, 6-foot and 195 pounds, played in a total of 13 games in his two seasons with the Utes. He recorded 19 tackles and broke up three passes in nine games last season for the Pacific 12 champions. - Journal Sentinel
