  Draft Scout by Conference

Auburn's All-America cornerback is out the door, now with the Tennessee Titans after being picked in the second round of the NFL Draft. Roger McCreary's departure after being a stalwart cover corner for the Tigers has left a hole in Auburn's secondary - but that's nothing new for a program that has had a run of successful cornerbacks over the last several years. No. 6 in AL.com's MVP 10 countdown could be the next in that lineage: senior corner Nehemiah Pritchett. The 6-foot-1, 182-pounder has been a contributor in Auburn's secondary since his freshman season, and after starting eight games opposite McCreary last fall, Pritchett could be tasked with stepping into a starring role this season.

It's an assignment Pritchett, as well as his coaches, believes he's well-suited for. "He is one of those guys that, when you went down there toward the end when they were doing the maxes (in the weight room in the winter), like he was a different person," defensive coordinator Jeff Schmedding said. "I mean, there's no question about his speed. He can run. But to be a complete football player, having some more of that body armor and things like that - and I also see the confidence. He's not a real loud type of player off the field, but he is one of our guys in our leadership group on defense. He's stepped into that role. We expect a lot out of him. "...And I think he's going to be a more complete player. He can certainly cover and certainly run. But I like what we see with his effort and his opportunity for some leadership in that, too." - Birmingham News
