Kobe Lewis' jersey number at Central Michigan was No. 4 and naturally, the transfer running back wanted to keep it the same at Purdue. Receiver Rondale Moore was the last player to wear No. 4 on offense for the Boilermakers. "The last person who wore that jersey was a baller," Lewis was told by the Purdue coaches. "I was like, 'You know what; I want to be a baller too.' Hopefully, he left some of his luck on that jersey and it rubs off on me. I want to fill his shoes." If Lewis' production matches what Moore did, the offense will take a big step forward in the running game during the 2022 season. While gaining nearly 1,600 career yards with the Chippewas, Lewis became of fan of Moore from a distance. "Even when I was in college, he was in college and just watching him, that dude, I just love him," said Lewis, who is the 11th transfer to join the program since the end of last season. "He made me fall in love with the program." And now he's part of the program where he can attempt to lift the running game out of the basement of the Big Ten. The Boilermakers have ranked last among conference teams in rushing yards the last three years. - Journal and Courier
