When Florida State coach Mike Norvell began retooling the Seminoles' roster over the past few seasons, he was looking to add necessary experience and leadership to an otherwise young and raw group of players. Norvell achieved that by adding more than two dozen players through the transfer market. Their presence gave the team a lift, specifically through the performances of players such as Jermaine Johnson II, Keir Thomas, Jashaun Corbin and Devontay Love-Taylor. As the play improved, so did the team's confidence - a noticeable improvement coming out of FSU's spring camp last month.

"You saw confidence because guys understood the expectation," said Norvell. "We were able to push harder, and it wasn't all new for them." The quarterback group showed the most significant growth, with redshirt junior Jordan Travis returning as FSU's starter. After on-again, off-again seasons, Travis also assumes a more prominent leadership role for the Seminoles. "It's probably one of the biggest differences within our program," said Norvell. "Jordan is an incredible young man, but we had yet to see that confidence because there had not been that consistency of him being the guy, being able to go out there and consistently showcase what he could do. We got a glimpse of that last year and you watch how he responded in challenging situations." - Orlando Sentinel
