Colorado State's football team was picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West's Mountain Division in a preseason media poll announced Wednesday at the start of the league's media days at the Cosmopolitan. The Rams, who went 1-3 in an abbreviated 2020 season after losing three games to COVID-19 issues and another because of a player boycott by the opposing team, were picked to finish behind perennial power Boise State, Wyoming and Air Force and ahead of Utah State and New Mexico in the six-team Mountain Division.

CSU was also picked to finish fourth in the Mountain Division in most preseason publications, including Athlon, Lindy's and Phil Steele. Steve Addazio, the only head coach not in attendance at the annual media days event, is beginning his second season with the Rams. He was scheduled to address reporters remotely later Wednesday and was not immediately available for comment. Boise State is the overwhelming favorite to repeat as Mountain Division champion, receiving 23 of a possible 25 first-place votes from media who cover the league. Wyoming received the other two first-place votes. - Fort Collins Coloradoan
