Louisville had a massive hole to fill in the middle of its defensive line when Jared Goldwire left and it filled that gap by getting Turner out of the transfer portal. Turner, a transfer from Southern Miss, was a standout up front before entering the portal. He had 100 tackles in three years with 31.5 tackles for a loss and 14.5 sacks. At 6-foot-1 and 290 pounds Turner looks the part to fit Louisville's nose tackle hole. One of the key positions in Louisville's defense, the Cardinals need somebody to take on double teams up front as much as possible. If Turner can do that, it's step one, but he was also a strong pass rusher at Southern Miss with just under five sacks a year. This doesn't mean we won't see Dezmond Tell up front. After a strong freshman season, he missed much of the spring with an injury, but he's likely to work himself back into the rotation at some point. But until then I'll go with Turner starting at nose tackle until proven otherwise. I think he has the chance to be an impact player there. - Courier Journal
