Texas Tech saw several athletes utilize the new name, image and likeness bill Thursday morning, joining college athletes throughout the country. The law went into effect at midnight before Red Raider quarterback Tyler Shough, in addition to Texas Tech men's basketball players Kevin McCullar Jr. and Marcus Santos-Silva, signed deals to join Cameo. Cameo is a social media-type app in which customers can purchase personalized messages from their favorites stars in sports, entertainment or other pop-culture genres. "Let's connect on Cameo!" Shough wrote on a video he posted Thursday to Twitter.

Shough, a transfer quarterback from Oregon, was one of the first Texas Tech athletes to announce his deal with the popular app, which listed $40 as the price for a personalized message from the signal-caller who has more than 15,000 followers on Instagram. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound athlete has three years to play after throwing for 1,559 yards, 13 touchdowns and six interceptions to go with 271 rushing yards and two scores last season. - Lubbock Avalanche Journal
