Boise State defensive back Kekaula Kaniho is one of 42 student-athletes named to the Watch List for the 2021 Lott IMPACT Trophy. College defensive players are nominated to the Watch List based on the IMPACT on their teams on and off the field. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity. The 42 honorees represent the number Ronnie Lott wore during his illustrious career. Lott is a member of both the College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Kaniho, who was among 24 finalists for the award in 2020, helped lead Boise State to a bowl game in each of his first three years on campus (the Broncos opted out of a 2020 bowl game). His 32 total tackles and team leading seven passes defended last season earned a 2020 All-Mountain West Second-Team honor, one year after earning a spot on the first team. He elected to return for his super senior season in 2021. - Idaho Statesman
