South Alabama offensive lineman Hayden Burton has been dismissed for an unspecified violation of team policy, a team spokesman told AL.com. Burton, a junior-college transfer who signed with the Jaguars in December 2019, was the front-runner to start at right tackle heading into spring practice. However, he was not spotted at practice Saturday or Tuesday and has been deleted from the team's online and printed roster. (Head coach Kane Wommack later confirmed the news to AL.com.) The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Burton came to South Alabama from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where he helped the Bulldogs to the 2019 NJCAA championship. The Bogue Chitto, Miss., native played in eight of 12 games for the Jaguars in 2020, starting the final four at right tackle. - Birmingham News
