Texas Tech announced Monday that former Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough has arrived on campus and will be in uniform with the Red Raiders when they resume spring practice on Tuesday. Shough announced on Feb. 12 that he was having his name put into the NCAA transfer portal and committed to Tech on Feb. 22, but still had to earn a degree at Oregon to leave as a graduate transfer. He completed coursework this month with dual undergraduate degrees in criminal justice and political science, Tech's announcement said. Tech had its first two spring workouts last week and has 13 of the allotted 15 remaining. When former Tech starter Alan Bowman departed as a transfer, it left the Red Raiders with four-game starter Henry Colombi and a cast of talented but inexperienced candidates at quarterback.

Shough, a nationally sought recruit three years ago, started all seven games Oregon played last season. "We're excited to add a quarterback with Tyler's ability and experience to our quarterback room," Red Raiders coach Matt Wells said in Tech's announcement. "I'm looking forward to watching all of our quarterbacks compete this spring under coach (Sonny) Cumbie, and Tyler will only help in making that position better." - Lubbock Avalanche Journal
