  01/13/21 - WR DeVonta SmithSr/2021, Alabama

It was almost the perfect ending for DeVonta Smith but a finger injury ended his final Alabama game early. The Heisman Trophy winner left with a dislocated finger on the second snap of the second half of Alabama's 52-24 win over Ohio State in the national championship game. "It was dislocated and they couldn't get it back in," Nick Saban said in the aftermath. "If they'd have got it back in, he would have been fine. He actually wanted to play, we just didn't allow him to." Smith was in the sideline injury tent for an extended period before walking back to the locker room.

ESPN cameras caught Smith under the stadium, walking between the locker room and other medical rooms after going down early in the second half. He later emerged on the sideline but no longer in uniform. Saban smiled when talking about the situation in the postgame. "I told Smitty after the game, I said, You're the only player that I know that missed a whole half because of your finger," Saban said - Birmingham News
