The player once seen as Kylin Hill's potential successor intends on leaving Mississippi State. A source confirmed to the Clarion Ledger sophomore running back Lee Witherspoon has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Witherspoon started this past season as MSU's fourth-string running back behind Hill and true freshmen Jo'quavious Marks and Dillon Johnson. Hill opted out in the first half of the year, but Witherspoon's playing time did not increase as a result. Witherspoon recorded six carries for 35 yards and nine catches for 49 yards in 2020. As a true freshman in 2019, Witherspoon had 22 carries for 101 yards and a touchdown. - The Clarion Ledger
