After losing a few players to the transfer portal and NFL Draft, Louisville football got some good news Friday. Standout inside linebacker C.J. Avery announced on Twitter Friday afternoon that he plans to return to Louisville for his fifth year of eligibility. That is big news for Louisville because Avery has been one of the most influential players on the defense for years. Avery led Louisville in tackles this season with 78. He also led the team in tackles in 2019 with 93. The Grenada, Mississippi, native is one of the most experienced players on Louisville's defense. In four years Avery has played in 46 games tallying 252 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss and three interceptions. Only Etheridge played, and started, in more games than Avery coming into this season. - Courier Journal
