Is Tyler Shough still Oregon's starting quarterback? Coach Mario Cristobal didn't waste a lot of time with the question, which was posed during his Zoom meeting with the media on Monday. "We assess everyone on a weekly basis," Cristobal said. "but he's our starting quarterback." Of course he is. In Shough's first five career starts, he has completed 91-of-143 passes (63.6%) for a Pac-12-leading 1,389 yards and 11 touchdowns. The 6-foot-5, 221-pound redshirt sophomore also has rushed for 256 yards and two touchdowns.

But some costly mistakes in consecutive defeats at Oregon State (two interceptions) and California (lost fumble) have some critics wondering what Boston College transfer Anthony Brown or touted true freshman Jay Butterfield might look like taking the snaps. Shough and his teammates aren't flinching as the Ducks (3-2) prepare to host Washington Huskies on Saturday at Autzen Stadium (1 p.m., FOX) for the North Division title. "We're all behind (number) 12," senior tight end Hunter Kampmoyer said of Shough. "We all make mistakes through the course of the game. He's done a great job of being a leader, accepting those things and moving forward. There's nothing you can do about the last play, it's all about the next play. He's done a great job, and we've all been behind him 100 percent." - Register Guard
