Purdue is expected to be without defensive end George Karlaftis for up to 21 days after the sophomore tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday. According to the school, an antigen test administered Tuesday morning came back positive and a follow-up PCR test confirmed the result. Karlaftis is currently at home in isolation. Big Ten protocols established in September said athletes who tested positive would have to sit out three weeks before returning to activity. Karlaftis would be eligible to return for the Big Ten's crossover games the weekend of Dec. 18-19. Karlaftis returned from an ankle injury during last week's loss at Minnesota. The West Lafayette graduate suffered the injury in the Oct. 31 victory at Illinois but missed the Nov. 14 loss to Northwestern. - Journal and Courier
