K.J. Britt plans to head to Mobile in January. The Auburn senior linebacker and team captain formally accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl on Thursday, the Senior Bowl announced on Twitter. Britt is the first senior in this year's class for Auburn to accept an invitation to the game, which is held annually in Mobile each January. Britt has appeared in only two games this season for Auburn, as he has been sidelined since undergoing surgery on his thumb on Oct. 9. In his two games against Kentucky and Georgia, Britt totaled 23 tackles, including one for a loss. The 6-foot, 243-pound linebacker out of Oxford is expected to return late this season, though no target return date has been given by Auburn coach Gus Malzahn. For his career, Britt has recorded 119 tackles in 42 games. Last season he earned first-team All-SEC honors after totaling 69 tackles. - Birmingham News
