Draft Scout College Football Player News

We knew the cornerback position was one of the team's biggest question marks heading into 2020 after losing starters Lavert Hill and Ambry Thomas. But this year's starters Vincent Gray and Gemon Green acquitted themselves well in the opener against Minnesota. Saturday was a different story. Both got beat deep on multiple occasions, and they also combined for three penalties in coverage. Gray's struggles reached a tipping point in the second half, with Michigan benching him for redshirt freshman Jalen Perry, who was making his college debut. Perry didn't fare much better, begging the question: what does Michigan do at cornerback moving forward? It doesn't have much experience outside of that trio. Redshirt freshman DJ Turner and redshirt sophomore Sammy Faustin are options, but neither has appeared in a game at corner (Faustin appeared in three games at safety in 2019). Expect defensive coordinator Don Brown to make adjustments before Saturday's game at Indiana. - Ann Arbor News
