Joey Gatewood is on the verge of getting his first chance at being a starting quarterback. The former Auburn QB is likely to get the start for Kentucky when the team faces Georgia on Saturday, according to sources. Terry Wilson, the Wildcats' starting quarterback in the team's first five games, is dealing with a throwing hand injury, hasn't taken part in Kentucky's first two practices of the week and it appears unlikely he'll play against Georgia, per sources. Gatewood, who left Auburn last October before later transferring to Kentucky, has appeared in three games thus far for the Wildcats as a backup quarterback. That includes some reps last week with Wilson struggling during Kentucky's loss to Missouri. The former top-50 recruit threw three passes and had a 12-yard completion. He also had three carries for six yards. - Birmingham News
