Javian Hawkins earned the nickname "PlayStation" when he played Pop Warner football as a kid in Brevard County. On Saturday, he hit the "o" button and gave the Louisville Cardinals a huge advantage in a 48-16 win over the Florida State Seminoles. Hawkins, who starred at Astronaut High and Cocoa High, scored two of his three touchdowns in the first quarter for Louisville as the Cardinals jumped out to a big lead. First, the sophomore tailback scored on a 9-yard run, helping U of L tie the game at 7. But it was his second run that gave the Cardinals huge momentum, and made the game's highlight reel. Starting right, Hawkins was bottled up, but he spun back and headed left, and his speed carried him the rest of the way for a 70-yard touchdown. Hawkins added a third touchdown in the third quarter - a 10-yard scoring run. Hawkins left the 100-yard mark behind in the second quarter. He now has 11 100-yard games in his young Louisville career, good enough for fourth in school history. He finished with 176 yards on 16 carries, averaging 10.8 yards per carry. - Courier Journal
