UK closed out the win without senior nose guard Quinton Bohanna, who was sidelined with a knee injury just before halftime. SEC Network cameras showed him in considerable pain on the field after the play, and he had to be helped by trainers to limp to the sideline. Bohanna was then taken to the locker room on a cart. After the game, Bohanna tweeted he was OK, and Davis said he thought his teammate was fine. His injury came one week after Bohanna forced two interceptions by pressuring Mississippi State's quarterbacks. "We wouldn't say he's a finished product, but every day he works," UK defensive coordinator Brad White said of Bohanna on Wednesday. "He's been getting better throughout the season. It happened to sort of culminate on Saturday for everybody to see, but he's had some really, really solid rushes throughout the first two weeks."

On the season, Bohanna has been credited with four tackles, one-half tackle for loss and one pass breakup, but his ability to take up multiple blockers at 6-foot-4, 357 pounds often brings benefits not evident in the box score. "So many people, they go right to the stat sheet," White said. "It's the effect he has on the quarterback, the effect those guys up front have on the vision points for the quarterback. If you can put a big body in a pass lane, you can put a big paw up...Really pleased with his progression and the fact that he's owned up to sort of his deficiencies (in the pass rush) and known in the past that we needed more in that area. "The other thing that's probably not being talked enough about is his conditioning and how many snaps he can play at full speed and still get out of the stack. He runs and he hustles. It's been impressive." - Courier Journal
