Draft Scout College Football Player News

Legends leave long shadows - something nobody needs to tell Mac Jones. Signing in the same class as Tua Tagovailoa before waiting his turn three seasons, Jones is still connected to the Miami Dolphins' first-round draft pick. "Yeah, but how does that compare to Tua..." It remains an FAQ after Jones' hot start to his first season as the catalyst of Alabama's offense and there's easy way to draw parallels. The 2020 season is just so absurdly different from any previous years. Here we are in October staring down a three-game, conference-only statistical sample size. But there are a few ways to measure these things with a healthy number of asterisks and caveats in play. Statistically, Jones' first three games stack up similarly to Tagovailoa's open to the 2019 season. Jones has 104 more passing yards on eight more attempts and a slightly better completion percentage. The beginning of the 2018 season had a different dynamic with Jalen Hurts sharing more of the load and Tagovailoa throwing 41 fewer passes in three games compared to 2019. "Mac's doing a good job of taking the spot of 13," Alabama running back Najee Harris said Monday. "He's living up to everything." - Birmingham News
