Metchie was periodically mentioned as a standout behind the scenes last year, including after he scored two touchdowns in the team's first 2019 spring scrimmage, but he didn't play much during the season because of the Tide having a top four at wide receiver that featured not only Waddle and Smith but also two 2020 first-round draft picks - Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs. This year is different. Jeudy and Ruggs are gone. That's left Metchie with a chance to be that third option in the Crimson Tide passing game. So far, so good. Saban commended Metchie throughout fall camp. Now, he's off to a good start to the season and showing off that sneaky speed. Which didn't go unnoticed with Waddle. "I told ya'll about his sneaky speed," Waddle joked after the game on Saturday. "He got to showcase that today." - Birmingham News
