UH quarterback Clayton Tune was sharp in last year's season finale, throwing for 393 yards and a career-best four touchdowns in a 56-41 loss to Navy. Clayton Tune's No. 3 jersey underwent a minor alteration this summer. A "C" patch was sewn into the top right corner of his football jersey, identifying Tune as one of the University of Houston's team-elected captains for this season. "It means a lot," Tune, set to begin a season as the Cougars' starting quarterback for the first time, said Wednesday during a Zoom call with reporters. "I don't take it lightly. I think it's a testament of the work I've put in for guys to vote for me to be a captain. It's a great honor." It's not uncommon for a quarterback to be selected a captain, although it's not a given. Tune's selection after only nine career starts over the last two seasons shows how quickly he has taken a leadership role and earned the respect of teammates. "He's got the ear of the team, the respect of the team," coach Dana Holgorsen said. - Houston Chronicle
