Junior receiver Elijah Moore spoke to the media on Friday for the first time since his excessive celebration penalty at the end of the Egg Bowl effectively cost Ole Miss a chance to tie or win the game. Based on the way he talked about the incident, Moore seems like he's moved past the criticism and attention he drew. "I just tried to flip the page," Moore said. "I've got a new coach. That's a blessing. I'm just trying to be positive and leave the past in the past and be a better player overall. Just learn from my lessons. It's been motivating. Being a young man, you know everyone makes mistakes. I don't really use them as losses. I take them as a lesson. I learn from my lessons."

Moore led Ole Miss with 67 catches for 850 yards and six touchdowns a season ago. Among returning SEC players who have not opted out of the 2020 season, only Alabama's DeVonta Smith and Texas A&M's Jhamon Ausbon had more receiving yards last season. First-year Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin has singled Moore out as one of the standouts in the receiver room, saying he's consistently made big plays in the team's scrimmages. Given that he had more catches and receiving yards last year than all of Ole Miss' other returning wide receivers combined, it stands to reason that he'll have to be the main target in this Ole Miss offense. - The Clarion Ledger
