In the midst of challenges created by the coronavirus pandemic, Harry Trotter has had to get creative at times to stay healthy and maintain his workout routine. When many businesses - gyms among them - shut down earlier this year, Trotter resorted to using what was available. Hills. Sand pits. "Whatever you can find," he said, "to get some extra work in." Trotted acknowledged it wasn't always easy. Half the battle simply was making sure he didn't let the circumstances dictate his attitude. "It was difficult some days, but just staying positive, making the best (of it) and just trying to work as hard as you can all offseason is something I take a lot of pride on," he said. "Just trying to be as responsible as I can because, being a senior and with the position I'm in, I know I have to be responsible and held accountable for everything that I'm going to be taking part of."

All the time and energy he's put in since the end of last season boiled down to one reality: Trotter likely will be Kansas State's starting running back this fall. Last season, he was part of a three-man, upperclassmen rotation along with seniors (and graduate transfers) James Gilbert and Jordon Brown. Gilbert ended up becoming the primary option, leading the Wildcats' running backs in carries (141), rushing yards (737) and rushing touchdowns (six). Brown was next in line, with 380 yards and four scores on 84 attempts. Finally, there was Trotter, who ended last season with a line of 66 carries, 263 yards and three touchdowns. - Manhattan Mercury
