Cole Bentley has received a lot of praise for his improvement this offseason. A former tight end in high school, Bentley is expected to be Louisville's starting center when the season begins on Sept. 12, barring any injury. Last year at this time, and through much of the season, he was in a battle with T.J. McCoy for the starting spot. But now it's all his, and he's taken full advantage of that. The center is one of the most important positions on the offense, because of how much the player has to know about the scheme, offensive coordinator Dwayne Ledford said. Ledford expects a strong season from Bentley, who is one of three returning starting interior linemen. "He's an athletic, big guy that can move. He can really do well with what we are asking him in this scheme," Ledford said. "I think he's primed to have a really, really big season." Bentley's offseason, like many others, was spent working on the conditioning plan strength coach Mike Sirignano gave the team. He also made a trip to Texas to improve the mental side of his game. - Courier Journal
