Bowling Green continued its run of adding quarterbacks to its depleted roster, adding its fourth new player at the position by drawing a commitment from former Syracuse backup Drew Gunther. Gunther announced his commitment to Bowling Green on Sunday. Previously, Gunther was a preferred walk-on with the Orange who entered the transfer portal earlier in August. Gunther redshirted last season at Syracuse and did not appear in a game. Unless Gunther acquires a hardship waiver from the NCAA, he would be unable to play during the 2020-21 school year after transferring. However, due to changes related to coronavirus, no fall sports athletes will be forced to use a year of eligibility, so Gunther would retain all four years going into next season. As a high schooler at Malvern (Pa.) Prep just outside of Philadelphia, Gunther went 22-3 as a starter and set school records for touchdown passes (54) and passing yards (4,947). - Toledo Blade
