Freshman defensive back Daran Branch's time away from the Georgia football team is over. The Louisiana native has returned from his home state after missing time this preseason, which cast his football future in doubt. "Daran, yeah, he's back with the team," coach Kirby Smart said after Saturday's scrimmage. "He was with us today. He got out there today. He wasn't allowed to practice. He didn't have on pads yet. He's going through an acclimation period." Branch worked on individual drills, Smart said. "Excited to have him back," he said. "He had some personal things going on that he had to go home and take care of. He did that, came back. I'm glad he's with us, taking another shot at it." The 6-foot-2, 178-pound Branch was a three-star prospect from Amite High-65 miles north of New Orleans-- who backed off an Ole Miss commitment and signed with Georgia. Miami also was a finalist. - Athens Daily Banner
