With several departures due to graduation from last year's 10-win squad, the defensive line is one of the biggest areas of immediate need in 2020 for Louisiana Tech. And help is on the way to Ruston, as former Texas senior defensive lineman Gerald Wilbon has committed to Tech, according to 247sports.com, which reports that the former Longhorn lent his verbal on May 14. He'll be immediately eligible to suit up for the Bulldogs this season. The addition of Wilbon marks the fifth transfer the Louisiana Tech coaching staff has pulled in for the 2020 recruiting class.

Tech signed Abilene Christian transfer quarterback Luke Anthony back on Signing Day, while it's landed former LSU guard Donavaughn Campbell, Virginia Tech safety Khalil Ladler and Tennessee receiver Jerrod Means, who'll have to sit out this year due to NCAA transfer rules, in three months since. Louisiana Tech welcomes back just two defensive linemen with significant playing time in ends Willie Baker and Milton Williams. The unit lost key pieces on the inside in senior defensive tackle Courtney Wallace, who signed an undrafted free agent deal with the New England Patriots following the 2020 NFL Draft, and senior Ka'Derrion Mason. Wilbon entered his name into the transfer portal Jan. 21.
