  05/18/20 - QB Myles BrennanrSr/2023, LSU

Regardless of when or how the season starts, though, LSU will feature a new quarterback starting under center after Heisman Trophy-winner Joe Burrow was drafted No. 1 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals. The most likely candidate for the job is rising junior Myles Brennan, whom Linehan said he's come away impressed with during limited meetings before coronavirus concerns cut off any in-person workouts or coaching sessions. Brennan's significant time on the field mopping up the end of LSU's many blowout wins also offers more tape than most new coaches would have to survey the on-field abilities of a backup in line for his first starting opportunity.

"You see he's ready to take the reins....He recognizes what we're doing and he's really a bright kid, picks up stuff right away, the new things," Linehan said of Brennan. "He's got a really good grasp of concepts and I'm really impressed with how he throws it. So I'm excited to see what Myles can do." As Burrow's backup, Brennan saw time in eight of LSU's 15 games in 2019, completing 24 of 40 passes -- mostly to fellow backups -- for 353 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Behind Brennan are a handful of highly touted young arms, including 4-star recruits Peter Parrish and Max Johnson, and 3-star recruit TJ Finley -- all entering their freshman or redshirt freshman seasons. - Baton Rouge Advocate
