The American Athletic Conference had 17 players selected from its member schools during last week's NFL draft. It was the conference's second highest total in its seven-year history, falling just short of 2018?s record mark of 18 selections. That was the top draft haul among all Group of Five conferences for the sixth straight year. The Mountain West and Conference USA each had 10 draftees in this year's draft.

The AAC has actually been closer to the Big 12 than it has been with other "fellow" G5 schools in terms of recent draft pick totals. Outside of the 2019 draft, where the Big 12 had 26 players taken and the AAC only had 11, the two conferences have had very similar totals in all other drafts since 2017: This year was 21-17 in the Big 12?s favor, 2018 was 20-18 in the Big 12?s favor and the AAC actually had the better total in 2017 (15-14). - Dallas Morning News
