Draft Scout College Football Player News

Fourteen years after Marlon Davidson started lifting couches to try to get stronger, his efforts paid off when the Atlanta Falcons called his name. Even at seven, Davidson had known that if he wanted football to be his way out, he had to work at it. The Falcon's recognized that dedication and used their second-round pick to make him the 47th pick of the 2020 NFL Draft on Friday. When he received the call, Davidson became the third Auburn player to be picked, behind No. 7 Derrick Brown, who went to the Carolina Panthers, and cornerback Noah Igbinoghene who was picked 27th by the Miami Dolphins on Thursday.

He's the second Auburn defensive lineman, behind Brown, to be picked and joins six Auburn defensive linemen who have been drafted since 2015. He is the second defensive end since Carl Lawson was picked in the fourth round by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2017. Davidson was the third defensive end to go in this year's draft. Chase Young went to Washington Redskins with the second pick and Yetur Gross-Matos was picked by the Panthers in the second round. However, the numbers aren't that important to Davidson. "My expectation is to be picked," Davidson said before the draft. "I don't care what round I go. I don't care what pick I'll go long as I go." - Birmingham News
