  Draft Scout by Conference

  04/21/20 - OT *Andrew ThomasJr/2020, Georgia

Before the first Sam Pittman-coached Georgia player was drafted two years ago, the offensive line coach called Isaiah Wynn to make sure it was OK if he went to be with another player he helped develop on draft night. Frank Ragnow lost his father Jon to a heart attack during his junior season at Arkansas. Pittman coached Ragnow before joining Kirby Smart's Bulldog staff in 2016, and the center asked if Pittman and his wife Jamie would come to Victoria, Minn., for his big moment. "Coach, with that kind of request, I'll be fine, I'll call you," Wynn told Pittman. Ragnow went with the No. 20 overall pick in 2018 and Wynn, the Georgia offensive tackle, went soon after at No. 23. "Right before (Wynn's) pick he texted me and I was sitting outside with Frank after he had been drafted and said, 'Oh man, we've got to get back in there on the TV.' It was really a neat deal," said Pittman, who returned to Arkansas in December to become head coach after four Georgia seasons.

Pittman should see another couple of players he recruited and coached go early in the NFL draft Thursday and three players taken before the draft wraps up Saturday. Left tackle Andrew Thomas is considered a top-15 prospect and right tackle Isaiah Wilson is seen as a riser who could find himself move into the first round as well. Guard Solomon Kindley is viewed as a third-day pick. Thomas will be the sixth Pittman-coached player to become a first rounder and Wilson could be the seventh. - Athens Daily Banner
