  Draft Scout by Conference

  04/20/20 - QB *Jake FrommJr/2020, Georgia

The final weeks leading up to the NFL draft offered Jake Fromm a chance to impress teams closing out their evaluation of him. Sitting in his father's office at the family's home in Warner Robins, Fromm connected with teams by video conferencing on Zoom, FaceTime or Skype or just on the phone. The former Georgia quarterback said he held interviews with up to 12 teams. "Some more than once," he said. "It's fun. Anytime we can sit here and talk football, it's fun." Fromm went 35-7 as a starter in his three Bulldog seasons, including in his freshman year when Georgia came close to winning the national championship.

Huddling with teams - virtually in the last month due to the novel coronavirus pandemic that left players and NFL personnel home-bound - was an opportunity for Fromm to show his grasp of the intricacies of the game. "It's very different with kind of every team," he said. "Some interviews will be a lot more formal than others. They'll be installing plays, we'll watch some of my film, we'll watch some of their film. Then have to recall what they installed. Other interviews are a little less formal, just hanging out talking, talking about my family, talk about life. Really kind of getting to know each other and developing a relationship." The 6-foot-2, 219-pound Fromm is pegged mostly as a second- or third-round pick in the draft that starts with the first round Thursday night and runs through Saturday. - Athens Daily Banner
