Jim McElwain has found another option at quarterback. After transfer quarterback Jett Duffey was denied admission and senior David Moore's suspension appeal was denied, the Chippewas were left in search of another option to compete with redshirt freshman Daniel Richardson. The team may have found its answer in Sam Houston State transfer Ty Brock, who committed to the Chippewas in a tweet on Wednesday. "I want to thank all the people who have helped me reach this opportunity," Brock tweeted. "I have a special family and an amazing girlfriend who have had my back through thick and thin. Thank you also to my teammates and coaches at SHSU for going to battle with me the past couple years."

Brock is a redshirt sophomore from College Station, Texas, and comes to Central Michigan with two years of eligibility. If he graduates from Sam Houston State on time in the summer, he will be eligible to play immediately. In his freshman year with the Bearkats, Brock was a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award, an annual honor for the best FCS freshman. He was also named an honorable mention freshman All-American after throwing for 2,417 yards and 15 touchdowns. His sophomore year saw him struggle, as he threw for 1,468 yards, nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions. With the addition of Brock, the Chippewas now have seven quarterbacks on roster. Brock will join Richardson, sophomores Tyler Shearer and George Pearson as well as freshman Tyler Pape in competing for the starting job. - Central Michigan Life
