WEEK 12 NEC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Nicholas Romero, Wagner, Kicker, Freshman, 5-9, 165 lbs., Pembroke Pines, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas,...Week 12 Stats: 2-2 FG (40, 41 yards), 2-2 PAT,...Romero became the second first-year player to repeat as NEC/Atlantic Tomor row's Office Rookie of the Week this season, joining Duquesne's Ryan Petras. The true freshman contributed eight points to Wagner's count on Saturday as the Seahawks defeated visiting Stonehill by a 20-14 final for their fourth-straight win. That rally m arks the program's longest since winning six-in-a-row in a banner-raising 2012 campaign. In addition, with the win, Wagner remains in contention for a share of the 2025 NEC regular season title. Converting on the extra point on Jordan Johnson's pick-6, t he first score of the game, Romero pushed the Seahawks' lead to 10-0 before the end of the opening quarter with a 40-yard field goal. Later in the game, he pushed the advantage to 13 with a 41-yarder eight seconds into the final period. The Pembroke Pine s, FL has been on point as of late, going a perfect 20-for-20 in his last kick attempts with eight successful field goals and 12 PAT conversions. On the season, he ranks third in the FCS in field goal percentage (.923) while his 12 made field goals and 1 .1 field goal per game average are both good for first in the NEC. - NEC Football

The first-year kicker from Pembroke Pines, FL provided the heroi cs on Saturday when he converted on a 28-yard field goal as time expired to lead Wagner past Saint Francis by a 23-20 final. On the season, Romero leads the conference with a 90.0 percent conversion rate on field goals after going 9-for-10. His 1.0 field goals per game are good for second in the league. With the game tied at 20-all in the final seconds, the Floridian walked it off for Wagner with a 28-yarder to seal the victo ry. On the afternoon, Romero enjoyed a perfect outing after he converted on each of his three field goal attempts and both PATs. Putting Wagner on the scoreboard and sparking a 13-0 run with a 37-yarder with 1:45 left in the first half, Romero converted on a season-long 44 yard field goal with 10:56 left in the third to pull the Seahawks within four. He also split kickoff duties on the afternoon, booting his lone attempt a season-best 63 yards. Romero is the first player this season to pull off the NEC/ Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Special Teams Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week double this season. He is also the first player since 2022 to sweep the league's Special Teams Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week awards. The true freshman from Florida accounted for 11 points in a perfect kicking performance, also connecting on field goals of 37 and 44 (a career long) yards and two extra points.
