Brad Jackson accounted for five touchdowns and 393 total yards of offense as Texas State beat South Alabama 49-26 in a regular-season closer for both teams on Saturday. Jackson completed 20 of 26 passes for 280 yards and two scores while rushing for anot her 113 yards and three touchdowns. Chris Dawn Jr. hauled in eight receptions for 154 yards to lead Texas State.The Bobcats (6-6, 3-5 Sun Belt) rattled off 28 points in the second half to pull away, including a 100-yard kick return touchdown by Wa shington State transfer Jaylen Jenkins that put Texas State up 49-14. Bishop Davenport finished with 95 yards and an interception on 13-of-21 passing for the Jaguars (4-8, 3-5). Jared Hollins took over in relief and went 7 for 11 for 61 yards and a score while Kentrel Bullock led the rushing attack with 84 yards and a 1-yard touchdown run. Jaden Rios recorded an interception in the third quarter, setting up a 50-yard strike from Jackson to Sparks. Brad Jackson accounted for four touchdowns and Texas State beat Louisiana-Monroe 31-14 on Saturday night. Jackson completed 25 of 32 passes for 201 yards and threw two touchdown passes. He had a 19-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a 7-yard sco ring run late in the fourth, and finished with 88 yards rushing on 15 carries.Beau Sparks had 10 receptions for 68 yards for Texas State (5-6, 2-5 Sun Belt Conference). Brad Jackson ran for two touchdowns and passed for another, Christopher Jones added a 100-yard pick-6 and Texas State picked up its first Sun Belt Conference win this season, handing Southern Miss its first league loss 41-14 on Saturday. Jackson ran for two short touchdowns and found Chris Dawn Jr. over the middle for an 82-yard score as the Bobcats (4-6, 1-5) took off to a 27-0 halftime lead.Jones capped the win by picking off Landry Lyddy's pass a few yards deep in the Bobcats' end zone for the freshman's first career interception and returning it all the way in the fourth quarter. Jackson was 14 of 17 for 192 yards passing and rushed for 49 more. Lincoln Pare rushed for 118 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown. Dawn had 117 yards receiving. L yddy was 29-of-44 passing for 267 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Elijah Metcalf had 116 yards receiving with a score. Brad Jackson threw for 180 yards and rushed for two touchdowns and Texas State beat Nicholls 35-3 in the Battle for the Paddle rivalry. Lincoln Pare, Torranc Burgess Jr. and Greg Burrell all had rushing touchdowns for Texas State. Lincoln led all rushers with 64 yards on 11 carries. Kylen Evans had four catches for a game-high 88 yards receiving for Texas State. Nicholls quarterback Deuce Hogan was 15-for-21 for 97 yards with an interception.Texas State (3-1) will have a week off next week before starting its Sun Belt slate against Arkansas State on October 4. The historic rivalry was just the second meeting between the two sides since 2011 and first since 2019. Texas State fully transitioned to the FBS in 2013.
