2025 CAA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Villanova sophomore running back/kick returner Ja'briel Mace ranks second in the nation with 32.9-yard kickoff return average. He was one of five FCS players to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in 20 25, going 100 yards vs. William & Mary on Sept. 27 and 97 yards against Elon on Oct. 11. The sophomore also excelled at running back, rushing for 600 yards and eight touchdowns on just 70 carries (8.6 ypc) and adding two receiving touchdowns. - CAA Footb all

Ja'briel Mace rushed for a pair of scores and caught a touchdown pass as Villanova defeated Sacred Heart 34-10 on Saturday in a regular-season finale. The Wildcats (9-2) are ranked No. 7 in the FCS Coaches Poll and second in the Coastal Athletic Associat ion at 7-1 behind Rhode Island. Villanova's lone league loss came at Monmouth. The Wildcats have won 22 straight home games dating to the 2022 season, the longest active streak in the FCS and longest in school history. Sacred Heart (8-4) played an indepe ndent schedule this season and will play in the CAA next year.Mace's touchdowns - 80- and 18-yard runs plus a 10-yard reception from Pat McQuaide - all came in the first half, and the Wildcats took a 21-3 lead to the break. Mace finished with 165 yards rushing on nine carries plus 21 yards receiving. McQuaide was 17 of 29 for 216 yards passing and two scores. Chris Colby had 112 yards receiving on five catches, including a 57-yarder. Jack Snyder was 28 of 35 for 286 yards passing with a touchdown and an interception. Payton Rhoades had 113 yards receiving, and Jason Palmieri had 95 on 10 catches, including the Pioneers' lone touchdown. - AP College Football

WEEK 11 FCS NATIONAL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ja'briel Mace, Villanova, RB, R-So., 5-9, 175,...Mace eclipsed the legendary Brian Westbrook's school record for rushing yards in a game with 291 and scored all four Villanova touchdowns in the Wildcats' 28-10 win at Towson. He entered the CAA Football game with 359 rushing yards in 26 career games, but carried the ball 28 times and scored from 8, 39, 82 and 22 yards out. His rushing total and all-purpose yards (315, adding in a 24-yard kickoff return) were the second most in an FCS game this season. Ja'briel Mace rushed for a school-record 291 yards and four touchdowns and Villanova beat Towson 28-10 on Saturday for the Wildcats' sixth straight win. Mace broke Brian Westbrook's record of 287 against Hofstra in 2001. Mace became the first Wildcat to rush for over 200 yards since 2013. His effort was the ninth 200-yard rushing game in school history.Mace scored on 8-yard run in the first half that ended in a 7-7 tie. He ran for a 39-yard touchdown early in the third then added 82- and 22-yard scores in the final minutes of the game to finish off the win for the Wildcats (7-2, 6-1 Coastal Athletic Association), who are ranked eighth in the FCS coaches' poll. Mace's 291 yards came on 28 carries and made up the majority of Villanova's 472 yards offense and eclipsed the 287 the Tigers (4-6, 2-4) collected. Pat McQuaide thew for 120 yards. Ja'briel Mace scored on a 97-yard kickoff return with about five minutes left to help Villanova pull away and beat Elon 29-21 on Saturday. TJ Thomas Jr.'s short touchdown run gave Elon a 21-20 lead with 5:25 to play before Mace scored on the ensuing kick off. Villanova's Jack Barnum added a 32-yard field goal with 1:03 remaining to end the scoring. Landen Clark drove the Phoenix to the Villanova 16 before throwing an interception to Jamie Tyson in the end zone on the final play.Pat McQuaide comple ted 23 of 31 passes for 255 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes to Luke Colella to lead Villanova (4-2, 3-1 Coastal Athletic Association). Colella finished with 10 receptions for 125 yards. Clark was 14-for-21 passing for 220 yards and added 32 ya rds rushing and a touchdown for Elon (4-3, 2-1).
