10/12 WEEK 6 SEC CO-DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK: South Carolina's Dylan Stewart, a junior edge rusher from Washington, D.C., had five tackles, 1.0 sack and two forced fumbles to help lead the Gamecocks to a 38-19 road win at No. 16/15 Florida. He was p art of a defense that forced a season-high three turnovers and held the nation's No. 5 scoring offense (46.2 points per game) to 19 points on its home field. It was Stewart's third career game with multiple forced fumbles. He is one of just 18 FBS player s with multiple forced fumbles in a game this season and one of only two to do it in an SEC game, and he is the only Gamecock defender in the last 21 seasons with multiple games of multiple forced fumbles. - SEC Football

The Southeastern Conference and South Carolina have jointly suspended Gamecocks edge rusher Dylan Stewart for throwing a punch at an Alabama player over the weekend. South Carolina coach Shane Beamer suspended Stewart indefinitely on Sunday for punching Alabama tight end Josh Ford in the helmet in the fourth quarter of the Gamecocks' 49-18 loss at No. 7 Alabama on Saturday. Beamer already ruled Stewart out for Saturday's game against No. 24 Kentucky prior to the one-game suspension issued on Monday. "Dy lan Stewart's egregious contact reflects behavior that is unacceptable and not aligned with the standards of the Southeastern Conference," SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement. "Such action against an opponent carries a serious risk of injury and has no place in our conference competition. This suspension is appropriate, and any future misconduct by Dylan Stewart will result in more severe disciplinary action." The one-game suspension is separate from Beamer's indefinite suspension.St ewart was an Associated Press preseason All-America first-team pick and is widely projected to be a first-round pick in next year's NFL draft. He missed the first two games of the season because of a back injury. "Our expectation at South Carolina, is th at our student-athletes conduct themselves with the highest level of integrity at all times," South Carolina athletic director Jeremiah Donati said. "Keeping one's composure, even in the most competitive environments, is our standard. South Carolina's defense returned two turnovers for touchdowns within a span of three plays on Saturday night and the Gamecocks beat Kentucky, 35-13. The Wildcats (2-2, 0-2 SEC) were gashing South Carolina with the run and held a 10-7 lead in the second quarter. Quarterback Cutter Boley was sacked by Dylan Stewart, the ball popped loose and defensive lineman Jatius Geer retrieved it, chugging 40 yards for a touchdown.Two plays later, Boley cast into the secondary but his pass clanged off the hand s of Kendrick Law. South Carolina's Gerald Kilgore gobbled the carom and sprinted 45 yards to the end zone. Trailing 21-10, the Wildcats tried to get their offense back in gear. Boley again threw deep but was belted by Desmond Umeozulu on the throw. Sout h Carolina's Brandon Cisse intercepted to start another touchdown drive. The Gamecocks (3-2, 1-2) added another touchdown in the fourth quarter while Kentucky only managed a field goal after its quick 10-0 start. - AP College Football

WEEK 1 SEC CO-DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK: Dylan Stewart, EDGE, Fr.,...Stewart, who was named the 247Sports True Freshman of the Week, came up big in the Gamecocks' 23-19 win over Old Dominion. The 6-6, 248-pound true freshman from Washington, D.C., wa s credited with four tackles including 1.5 sacks, a quarterback hurry, and two forced fumbles in the contest. Stewart's strip sack midway through the fourth quarter inside the Monarchs' 10-yard line set up the Gamecocks' winning score. According to PFF C ollege, the five-star prospect posted a 97.4 PFF grade in his collegiate debut. - SEC Football
