  Davin Wydner threw two touchdown passes, Latrelle Murrell ran for 128 yards and a score and West Georgia shut out North Alabama in the second half for a 24-17 victory on Saturday night. Wydner tossed a 41-yard touchdown pass to Bryce Dickerson and a 20-yarder to Owen Dupree to end the scoring with 5:43 left to play in the third quarter.

Wydner was 26-of-34 passing for 274 yards. Murrell carried 16 times that included a 55-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for West Georgia (7-3, 4-3 United Athletic Conference). Destin Wade threw for 137 yards and a touchdown pass, and he added 31 yards rushing with a TD run to lead North Alabama (2-8, 1-5). Wade connected with Azariah Fletcher for a 75-yard touchdown and ran for a 11-yard TD to give the Lions a 14-3 lead late in the first quarter. - AP College Football

  Davin Wydner threw two touchdown passes in the final six-and-a-half minutes and West Georgia rallied for an 18-17 win over Central Arkansas on Saturday. Wydner threw a 22-yard score to Owen Dupree for the Wolves' (6-2, 3-2 United Athletic Conference) first touchdown of the game. The failed 2-point conversion reduced West Georgia's deficit to 17-12 with 6:38 left. The Wolves' defense responded by holding Central Arkansas to minus-5 yards in five plays and forced the Bears to punt. Wydner then led West Georgia on a six-play, 74-yard drive in which he went 5-for-5 passing for 71 yards. His 23-yard touchdown pass to Dupree were proceeded by completions of 18 and 21 yards in succession to Dupree to give West Georgia its first lead with 1:31 left.

Central Arkansas turned the ball over on downs and West Georgia let time expire. Austin Myers threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Arlie Lee early in the second quarter with 12:39 before halftime for a 7-0 Bears' (2-5, 1-2) lead. West Georgia got on the board four minutes later with a 33-yard field goal from Tommy Holden. On the following drive, Myers helped lead another 11-play drive, this one for 75 yards, that ended with his 3-yard scoring pass to Malachi Henry for a 14-3 lead. Myers threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns and Landen Chambers ran for 122 yards on 28 carries. - AP College Football

  WEEK 3 FCS NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK: West Georgia (35-31 win over ETSU),...The then-No. 25 Wolves (3-0) delivered on their first FCS national ranking by overcoming a 31-20 deficit in the final 6:40. The game-winner came on Devion Newsom's 2-yard touchdown reception from Davin Wydner with 15 seconds left. Wydner fired a trio of scoring passes, Latrelle Murrell posted his third straight game over 100 rushing yards, and Jay Carter and David Hoage had 10 tackles each for coach Joel Taylor's United Athletic Conference team.   TJ Lester rushed for 108 yards with a touchdown, Jordan Dees had two receiving touchdowns and West Georgia defeated Eastern Kentucky 33-12 on Saturday night. Dees scored on a 31-yard reception to make it 7-3 and had a 28-yarder from Davin Wydner 11 seconds before halftime for a 21-12 lead. Festus Davies had a 53-yard scoop-and-score and a sack for a safety for the Wolves (4-0). Wynder threw for 95 yards, completing 8 of 11 passes, five to Dees for 84 yards. Eastern Kentucky quarterback Myles Burkett completed 21 of 41 passes for 203 yards and an interception. Brayden Latham scored on a 45-yard run for the Colonels (1-3). - AP College Football

  Devion Newson caught a touchdown pass from Davin Wydner with 15 seconds left to seal a 35-31 West Georgia comeback win over East Tennessee State on Saturday night. East Tennessee corner Tywan Royal was beaten by Newson for the touchdown catch. Royal was called for three defensive penalties on another fourth-quarter drive, most crucially on a fourth-and-8. It set up a second receiving touchdown for Latrelle Murrell and a two-point conversion that cut an 11-point lead to three. Davin Wydner was 18 of 34 for 263 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions.

East Tennessee was led by its two high-profile transfer quarterbacks, Jacolby Criswell (North Carolina and Arkansas) and Cade McNamara (Michigan, Iowa). McNamara was 9-for-13 with 76 yards and two interceptions, including one that ended the game. Criswell was 5-for-8 with 108 yards and three TDs. Criswell left the game with an apparent injury in the fourth quarter after taking a hit on an incompletion. West Georgia (3-0) is ranked No. 25 in the FCS coaches poll. The Wolves will start their United Athletic Conference schedule next week against Eastern Kentucky.   Davin Wydner threw two touchdown passes and Latrelle Murrell ran for 170 yards to lead West Georgia to a 34-10 victory over Nicholls on Saturday night. Wydner completed just 7 of 21 passes for 63 yards for the Wolves (2-0), but he connected with Owen Dupree for an 18-yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and then hit DeAndre Buchannon for an 18-yard score with 6 seconds left before halftime for a 14-3 lead.

TJ Lester added a 1-yard touchdown plunge in the third quarter and a 3-yarder in the fourth for a 31-3 advantage. Simon Zeidan kicked two field goals. Murrell did his damage on 29 carries. Wydner rushed 14 times for 103 of West Georgia's 351 yards on the ground. He threw two interceptions. Deuce Hogan fired a 44-yard scoring strike to Jackson Dufrene for the lone touchdown for the Colonels (1-2).   Owen Dupree returned the second half kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, Geoffrey Speight had a 54-yard scoop and score in the closing minutes and West Georgia rolled to a 34-3 win over Samford to open the season on Thursday night. The Wolves piled up 411 total yards and held the Bulldogs to 271 yards in winning their 13th-straight season opener, second-straight at the FCS level. Davin Wydner threw for 209 yards with two interceptions and ran for a score for West Georgia.

TJ Lester also had a 3-yard rushing touchdown set up by Latrelle Murrell's 67-yard burst up the middle on the previous play. Murrell led the ground game with 129 yards on 11 carries. Dupree took the kickoff on the right side and found a seam before veering to the left and running away from the defense. Samford fumbled six times, losing three. David Hoage forced two of the fumbles, including the touchdown play. Quincy Crittendon and Brady Stober combined to complete 32 of 44 passes for 247 yards for Samford but the Bulldogs had only 24 yards on 28 rushes. - AP College Football

  WEEK 1 FCS NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK: West Georgia (38-29 win over Samford),...In its first game on the Division I level, West Georgia stunned Samford, the 2022 Southern Conference champ and an FCS quarterfinalist. The win also was coach Joel Taylor's first with the UAC program. The Wolves meant business from the start with a 71-yard flea-flicker on the game's first play from scrimmage. Quarterback Davin Wydner accounted for 329 yards of total offense and three touchdowns.   Davin Wydner passed for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead West Georgia to a 38-29 win over Samford in the Wolves' Division-I debut on Saturday. West Georgia left Division II for the FCS this season and gave new coach Joel Taylor the victory. Wydner, an Ole Miss transfer on a West Georgia team with more than 60 newcomers, was 24-of-35 passing for 271 yards and ran for 58 more. Karmello English had six catches for a 108 yards and Chase Belcher rushed for a pair of scores. The Wolves retook the lead at 32-29 on a 4-yard Belcher run that came after Malachi Williams punched the ball loose and West Georgia recovered at the Samford 30-yard line.

On the Wolves' next possession, Wydner scrambled 21 yards to make it 38-29 with eight minutes left. Wydner threw a 44-yard Hail Mary to Dylan Gary on the final play of the first half for a 26-14 lead. The Wolves stayed on top until a scrambling Quincy Crittendon found Brendan Jenkins deep for a 68-yard score with six minutes remaining in the third quarter. A two-point conversion gave Samford a 29-26 edge. Crittendon was 24-of-41 passing for 302 yards with two touchdowns and an interception while running for 95 yards and two more scores for the Bulldogs. - AP College Football
