Heading into the opening of the transfer portal, the defensive backfield appeared to be the clear emphasis for the SMU Mustangs. Now Rhett Lashlee and Co. have added a secondary's worth of players. Former LSU corner Jaelyn Davis-Robinson announced his co mmitment to SMU on Thursday, becoming the sixth defensive back transfer SMU has added and the Mustangs' 14th overall transfer commitment. Davis-Robinson, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect, played at DeSoto and finished his career at Waxahachie. He also ran track in high school. He had a wind-aided 10.5 in the 100-meter dash. - Dallas Morning News

Freshman cornerback Jaelyn Davis-Robinson entered the transfer portal Thursday, leaving LSU with two scholarship cornerbacks set to return next season as an already thin position lost another player. Davis-Robinson, a three-star recruit from Waxahachie, Texas, redshirted this fall. Coach Brian Kelly mentioned his name positively a few times, but Davis-Robinson only appeared in three games. He was the 14th LSU player to enter the transfer portal since a 45-day window opened Dec. 5. The Tigers have now lo st six scholarship cornerbacks. Three of them - Davis-Robinson, redshirt junior Raydarious Jones and sophomore Damarius McGhee - entered the transfer portal. Jarrick Bernard-Converse and Colby Richardson used their last seasons of eligibility, and Mekhi Garner turned pro. Defensive back Jay Ward, who has experience at corner, also declared for the NFL Draft. - Baton Rouge Advocate
