Maurice LaPierre, Tennessee Tech, Player News

WEEK 10 OVC-BIG SOUTH CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Maurice LaPierre, DL, 6-1, 228, Sr., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Tennessee Tech,...LaPierre had three sacks (for -25 yards), four solo tackles, a forced fumble and three quarterback hurries to pace No. 8 ranked Tennessee Tech to a 27-21 win over Gardner-Webb. With the win the Golden Eagles improved to 9-0 on the season, its best start since 1952. His first sacked results in a forced fumble and Tech at the end of the third quarter with his team trailing by four points; two plays later Tennessee Tech scored to grab the lead and would not trail again. He would add two more sacks in the final quarter, the last coming on GWU's final drive of the game, where LaPierre also added a pair of quarterback hurries, resulting in a turnover on downs. LaPierre ranks third in the OVC-Big South and 23rd nationally in sacks (0.75). - OVC-Big South Football
