2022 ALL-NORTHEAST CONFERENCE FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: WR Makai Jackson, Saint Francis U, Fr,...After he was selected one of 25 finalists for the Jerry Rice Award, presented to the top freshman in the FCS, Jackson was named the top offensive rookie in the NE C. He ranks eighth in the FCS and leads freshmen with 7.3 receptions per game and is 22nd and leads freshmen with 83.6 receiving yards per game. He leads the NEC in both categories and his eight touchdowns are third in the conference. His 920 yards is ti ed for fourth in single-season program history and his 80 receptions rank fifth. During the season, Jackson was a two-time NEC Offensive Player of the Week, one-time NEC Special Teams Player of the Week and four-time NEC Rookie of the Week. 2022 NORTHEAST CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: WR Makai Jackson, Saint Francis U,...Jackson exploded onto the scene by winning the NEC Rookie of the Week honor a league-best four times, including three times during the first four weeks of his ca reer. Tacking on a pair of NEC Offensive Player of the Week awards and one NEC Special Teams Player of the Week accolade to that already impressive resume, the Keystone State product is the nation's top-ranked rookie in receptions and receiving yards per game. Jackson's numbers also rank him among the best in the FCS, as he is eighth in receptions per game (5.28), 19th in receiving yards (920) and 22nd in receiving yards per game (83.6).Registering 81 yards in his collegiate debut in an overtime loss to Akron, Jackson exceeded the 100-yard mark in his next three games in a stretch that included a career-best 123-yard performance at Richmond. He was the most-targeted receiver in the NEC by a long shot with 80 catches, 18 more than the next closes t competitor. The freshman wide receiver tallied 113 all-purpose yards in Saint Francis U's win at Norfolk State and eclipsed 100 receiving yards for the third time in as many games after tallying 105 on nine receptions (11.7 yards/reception).
