LSU will begin spring football practice next week. The team announced Wednesday that practice starts March 9, and it culminates with the spring game April 22 inside Tiger Stadium. LSU said "details and the format" of the last day haven't been determined. Spring ball provides the first glimpse of a team with rising expectations for the second year under coach Brian Kelly. The Tigers likely will be ranked in the preseason top 10 after finishing 10-4 with a Southeastern Conference Western Division title la st season. - Baton Rouge Advocate

2022 SEC ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM: LB Harold Perkins, LSU,...Perkins, from New Orleans, led the Tigers in both sacks (6.5) and tackles for loss (11.5). He finished third on the team in tackles with 69. He tied for team-high honors with 13 quarterback hurries. P erkins capped his rookie regular-season with a career-best 10 tackles, including 1.5 for losses, and a fumble recovery against Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. NOV 14 SEC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Harold Perkins, LB, LSU,...The true freshman tied LSU record with 4 sacks in what was one of the best all-around games for a Tiger defender in school history. Finished game with 8 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, a pass breakup and a QB hurry...Joined a list of only 4 players in last 15 years of FBS football with 4 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in a game. His 4 sacks accounted for 33 yards in losses...Both forced fumbles came by strip-sacks. First forced fumble led to a L SU field goal and his second came with just over a minute left in the game basically ended the contest as the Tigers were able to run out the clock on offense. As a unit, LSU held Arkansas to season lows for points (10), rushing yards (121) and total yar ds (237). - SEC Football

NOV 13 WALTER CAMP NATIONAL FBS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: HAROLD PERKINS, JR., LSU, Redshirt Freshman, Linebacker, Cypress, TX/Cy Park HS,...Harold Perkins Jr., was a dominant force in 10th-ranked LSU’s 13-10 victory against Arkansas, recording eig ht tackles, four for loss, four quarterback sacks, two forced fumbles, one pass break up and a quarterback hurry. Perkins clinched the victory with a forced fumble with 1:13 to go. With the win, LSU improved to 8-2 and clinched a berth in the 2022 SEC C hampionship Game. Josh Williams ran for 122 yards and a touchdown, Harold Perkins Jr. had four sacks and two forced fumbles and the defense for No. 7 LSU held Arkansas to 249 yards in its 13-10 win Saturday. The Tigers (8-2, 6-1 Southeastern Conference) forced and recover ed an Arkansas fumble on the Razorbacks' final drive with 1:19 left to clinch the win. Arkansas (5-5, 2-4) attempted to rally in the fourth quarter behind third-string quarterback Cade Fortin. He entered in the third quarter to replace an ineffective Mal ik Hornsby and threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Matt Landers with 13:12 left to pull Arkansas within three.Williams had scored LSU's only touchdown, a 1-yarder, late in the third quarter to give the Tigers a 10-point lead. LSU's offense otherwise struggled, with only one of its 13 series yielding more than 40 yards. Perkins, a freshman linebacker, stripped Fortin late in the game. The defense had eight tackles for loss and held Arkansas to 3.7 yards per play. Arkansas sacked LSU quarterback Jayd en Daniels seven times, limiting the SEC's top rusher at the position to 10 yards on 19 carries. Daniels completed 8 of 15 passes for 86 yards and an interception. The Razorbacks were without their usual starting quarterback, KJ Jefferson, announcing min utes before kickoff that Jefferson would not play due to a shoulder injury.
