WEEK 8 MAC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sieh Bangura, Ohio, RB, R-Sr., Bowie, Md. (DeMatha Catholic),...Bangura continued his streak of dominant Homecoming performances, leading the Bobcats on the ground with 147 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries in their 48-21 victory over the Northern Illinois Huskies. Just minutes into the game, the redshirt senior scored Ohio's first touchdown, wrapping up a 39-second drive with a two-yard run. He scored again at the beginning of the second quarte r, extending Ohio's lead to 21-0. Bangura found the end zone a third and final time in the fourth quarter, completing an 11-play drive to put the score at 41-14 with 14:55 remaining in the game. This matchup against the Huskies marked Bangura's 10th care er game with over 100 rushing yards, falling just one yard short of matching his career-high, which he set in 2022. In total, Bangura has scored 10 touchdowns across four Homecomings, highlighted by two Homecoming matchups where the running back scored t hree rushing touchdowns. - MAC Football

Sieh Bangura rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns and Duncan Brune rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns to lead a dominant rushing effort for Ohio in a 48-21 win over Northern Illinois on Saturday. Bangura scored two touchdowns by the 12:13 mark of the second quarter, with a Parker Navarro rushing touchdown sandwiched between them. Navarro was 17-of-23 passing for 205 yards and an interception. Brune got on the board with a 66-yard scamper early in the third quarter. His second came less than se ven minutes later.Ohio (4-3, 2-1 Mid-American Conference) outgained Northern Illinois 538-293, with the offense going 5-for-5 in the red zone. Josh Holst was 21 of 29 with 161 yards and a couple of passing touchdowns for Northern Illinois (1-6, 0- 3 MAC), but five of the Huskies' first seven drives ended in punts. Sieh Bangura ran for 123 yards and he and Duncan Brune each ran for three touchdowns and Ohio took control in the second quarter for a 52-35 win over FCS-member Gardner-Webb on Saturday. After the Bulldogs built a 14-3 lead following the first quarter, O hio responded with a 2-yard scoring plunge from Brune with 12:59 left before halftime. Bangura ran it in from the 8 and the two-point conversion made it 17-14 with 7:55 before halftime.Gardner-Webb regained the lead with a 68-yard scoring pass fro m Nate Hampton to Quasean Holmes to make it 21-17 with 6:30 left before the break. But a minute-and-a-half later, Parker Navarro threw a 43-yard touchdown to Chase Hendricks for a 24-21 Ohio lead. Bangura crashed in from a yard out to end an eight-play, 80-yard drive for a 10-point lead with 28 seconds left before halftime. Hendricks had eight catches for 144 yards and a touchdown for Ohio (2-2). Hampton threw for 289 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Sieh Bangura ran for 148 yards and two touchdowns and Ohio beat Ball State 32-18 on Tuesday night for its sixth straight win. Bangura had a 6-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and his 7-yarder early in the fourth stretched Ohio's lead to 26-11. He carried the ball 23 times that included a 41-yard run. Kurtis Rourke completed 12 of 16 passes for 169 yards and threw a touchdown pass for Ohio (8-3, 6-1 Mid-American Conference).John Paddock was 29-of-48 passing for 273 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for Ball State (5-6, 3-4). Carson Steele had 14 carries for 96 yards. Paddock threw a 7-yard TD pass to Brady Hunt, ending a long drive that pulled Ball State to 26-18 with about 10 minutes remaining. The Cardinals then turned the ba ll over on downs before Paddock threw his interception inside Bobcat territory. Ohio ends its regular season at home against Bowling Green next Tuesday. Sieh Bangura ran for two touchdowns, Nathanial Vakos kicked four field goals and Ohio cruised past Western Michigan, 33-14 in Mid-American Conference action Saturday. Ohio's defense dominated Western Michigan after intermission, stopping the Broncos on d owns twice and picked off five passes to thwart all seven second-half possessions. Torrie Cox and Zack Sanders each had two interceptions for Ohio (4-3, 2-1). Kurtis Rourke was 22 of 34 passing for 264 yards with an interception and Bangura had 77 yards on 25 carries. Vakos kicked a personal-best 55-yard field goal just before halftime.
