The attorney for a Georgia wide receiver who transferred from Mississippi State reached an agreement with the District Attorney's office to resolve the charges against him from Jan. 23 for an incident with a female in a UGA dorm. Rodarius "Rara" Thomas i s entering a pretrial diversion program to resolve the misdemeanor charge of battery/family violence and a felony charge of false imprisonment was dismissed, attorney Kim Stephens said.A tentative agreement has been in place for about a month, but it was finally signed on Friday, Stephens said. Police alleged Thomas stood in front of a dorm room door, blocking the exit and telling the female she could not leave, but Stephens said it was dropped primarily because there wasn't enough evidence to su pport that. The battery charge was for bruising the alleged victim's bicep and causing abrasions to her shin. Thomas will serve 40 hours of community service, complete an anger management class he already started and pay a $500 program fee. - Athens Dail y Banner

A wide receiver who recently transferred to national champion Georgia from Mississippi State was arrested Monday on felony and misdemeanor charges. Rodarius "Rara" Thomas was booked at around 4 a.m. on a felony charge of false imprisonment and a misdemea nor count of family violence battery, according to Clarke County jail records. He spent more than eight hours in jail before being released on $1,850 bond shortly after noon. Jail records showed the 20-year-old Thomas was arrested by University of Georgi a police. No other details were immediately available, and it was not known if Thomas had an attorney who could speak for him. "We are aware of a reported incident involving conduct by one of our student-athletes," the Georgia athletic department said in a statement. "While we are limited in what we can say about the incident, the report is disappointing and not reflective of the high standards we have for our student-athletes on and off the field." The arrest of Thomas was another blow to a Georgia tea m that won its second second straight national championship with a 65-7 rout of TCU on Jan. 9.A few hours after a celebratory parade through Athens and a ceremony at Sanford Stadium, offensive lineman Devin Willock and a member of the recruiting s taff were killed in an early morning car wreck on Jan. 15. Excessive speed has been cited as one of the causes of the crash, which remains under investigation. Thomas, who is from Eufaula, Alabama, was one of Mississippi State’s leading receivers this past season, with 44 catches for a team-high 626 yards and seven touchdowns. Mississippi State football coach Mike Leach said throughout this season he hasn't been pleased with the play of his receivers. He compared them to dinosaurs for failing to use their hands and he took away their chairs for not being engaged on the sidelin e. It was apparent wide receiver would be a position MSU attacked in the transfer portal in hopes of finding a potential No. 1 guy. It'll definitely have to be a priority now. Sophomore receiver Rara Thomas has entered the transfer portal, he announced v ia social media on Friday.Thomas is a native of Eufaula, Alabama. He didn't start playing football until his junior year at Eufaula High School, so he was a raw talent coming to Starkville. However, it didn't stop him from having a breakout season as a freshman last year. Thomas collected 18 receptions for 252 yards with five touchdowns in 2021. He had a three-game stretch in SEC play where he caught four touchdown passes. This season, he was inconsistent, but the highs were thrilling. He caught 44 catches for 626 yards with seven touchdowns. Among his highlights: A 75-yard touchdown against Texas A&M and a Randy Moss-like touchdown over a defender at LSU. - The Clarion Ledger
