Terrence Cooks Jr., Texas State, Player News
|
TCU football has landed its first player from the NCAA transfer portal in the Sonny Dykes era. Former Texas linebacker Terrence Cooks II announced that he will be playing for TCU next season. Cooks had a number of schools interested in him, including Ole Miss. Cooks joins a program that is transitioning from a 4-2-5 defense under Gary Patterson to a 3-3-5 scheme under new defensive coordinator Joseph Gillespie. He is expected to join a linebacker corps that includes returners in Dee Winters, Jamoi Hodge , Wyatt Harris and Shadrach Banks. TCU's coaching staff views Cooks as a versatile linebacker who could play any spot. He is listed at 6-foot-2, 218 pounds and was a highly-rated prospect coming out of Pearland Shadow Creek. He was a consensus four-star prospect who had more than 40 offers including Alabama, Arizona, TCU, Auburn and Georgia. - Fort Worth Star
