Carlos Del Rio-Wilson, a four-star quarterback prospect in the Class of 2021, will transfer from the University of Florida to Syracuse, he announced on Instagram on Tuesday. Rio-Wilson was ranked as the No. 146 player in the country in last year’s freshman class by 247 Sports and the No. 17 quarterback. He redshirted last season at Florida, where he was listed as 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds.

Rio-Wilson played high school football first at McEachern (Powder Springs, Georgia) High School and Cartersville (Georgia) High School. Cartersville is the high school where former Clemson star Trevor Lawrence played. Rio-Wilson also competed in the Elite 11 Finals, a competition for the country’s top high school quarterbacks. At Florida returning quarterback Anthony Richardson has a strong spring, seemingly securing the starting job. The Gators also brought in Ohio State transfer Jack Miller III and had a second quarterback, Jalen Kitna, who arrived in 2021 with Rio-Wilson. - Syracuse.com

Florida redshirt freshman quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson will enter his name into the NCAA's transfer portal, The Gainesville Sun confirmed Tuesday. Corey Bender of Gators Online was the first to report Del Rio-Wilson's intentions to leave Gators football program. A former four-star signee in the class of 2021, Del Rio-Wilson didn't see the field as a true freshman, and he found himself third in the pecking order at the conclusion of spring camp following Jack Miller's arrival on campus. Del Rio-Wilson saw the field in the fourth quarter of Thursday's Orange and Blue game, though both of his pass attempts fell incomplete. - Gainesville Sun
