Ryan Stubblefield found Jordan Smith on a two-point pass in the fourth overtime and South Carolina State defeated Prairie View A&M 40-38 on Saturday in the 10th Celebration Bowl, the matchup between the champions of the MEAC and SWAC. After both teams ki cked field goals in the first overtime, Cornelius Davis intercepted a Stubblefield pass on the first possession of the second overtime. Prairie View, needing any score to win, set up Diego Alfaro for a 31-yard field goal but he missed. Both teams failed to score when the game went to two-point tries in the third overtime, In the fourth OT, Stubblefield connected with Smith to give the Bulldogs the lead, then Prairie View's Cameron Peters threw incomplete on the Panthers' try.South Carolina State trailed by 21 points at halftime but tied it in the third quarter, scoring three touchdowns, all on drives of less than 50 yards. Stubblefield entered the game late in the second quarter for starter William Atkins IV and threw for 234 yards. His two touc hdown passes went to Smith, who also had a rushing touchdown and the winning two-point play. He caught nine passes for 152 yards. Peters threw for 412 yards with four touchdowns and Andre Dennis had 131 receiving yards with one touchdown. South Carolina State (10-3), making its third appearance in the Celebration Bowl in the past five years, won for the second time. The MEAC now leads the series 7-3. Ryan Stubblefield threw a touchdown pass and ran for two scores to help South Carolina State beat Bethune-Cookman 55-41 on Saturday night. The Bulldogs' Jayden Sellers recovered a fumble near the goal line and took it to the end zone early as South Carol ina State (2-1) rattled off 24 points in the first quarter. Cam'Ron Ransom completed 20 of 30 passes for 302 yards and four touchdowns for the Wildcats (0-3). He also rushed 11 times for 78 yards and a score.Stubblefield completed 21 of 35 passes for 286 yards. Jordan Smith had nine receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown. KZ Adams and Tyler Smith each added a rushing touchdown. Mason Pickett-Hicks' 69-yard touchdown run made it 48-27. Ransom connected with Maleek Huggins for a 52-yard touchdown pass in a 28-point fourth quarter. - AP College Football

Ryan Stubblefield hit Shamontae Burgess with a 12-yard touchdown pass with 89 seconds remaining and South Carolina State rallied to defeat Wofford 16-15 in a season opener on Saturday. The Bulldogs drove 74 yards on the winning drive, with Stubblefield c ompleting key third-down passes of 29 yards to Cyrus Ellison and 35 yards to Jalen Johnson. Wofford took a 13-9 lead early in the fourth quarter when Maximus Pulley blocked a punt and Perrin Ketchin returned it for a touchdown. The Terriers made it 15-9 a few minutes later when Brandon Maina sacked William Atkins IV in the end zone for a safety.The Terriers' Conner Deviney missed a 43-yard field goal try on their next possession and South Carolina State began the game-winning drive from its own 2 6-yard line. After South Carolina State took the lead, Wofford drove to the Bulldogs 31-yard line, but Deviney missed from 48 yards with four seconds remaining. For the game, Stubblefield completed 10 of 17 passes for 128 yards and Atkins was 17 of 33 fo r 175 yards. The Bulldogs compiled 414 yards while holding Wofford to 142 yards. - AP College Football
