Quarterback Jaden Rashada wants out of a commitment to Florida due to a failed Name, Image and Likeness agreement worth a reported $13 million. On the heels of 2022 starter Anthony Richardson declaring for the NFL draft and the dismissal of Jalen Kitna due to child pornography charges, the Gators might be left with Wisconsin transfer Graham Mertz and Jack Miller III competing this spring. Miller, a redshirt freshman, started for Florida in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Florida coach Billy Napier visited transfer portal option Walker Howard last week. The four-star Louisiana product left LSU after playing only two games in 2022, but he committed to Ole Miss on Wednesday. Napier said at the Under Armour All-American Game on Jan. 3 that he expected Rashada to enroll early to join the team in January. "I have watched this season and Coach Napier and his team are building something very special in The Swamp and I want to be a part of it," Rashada said via Twitter. - Gatorsports.com

Jack Miller III could find himself moved up from third string to starter at quarterback for the Florida Gators in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 17, due to Anthony Richardson declaring for the NFL Draft and backup Jalen Kitna being dismissed from the team last Friday following his arrest on child pornography charges. Miller was a four-star recruit out of Chaparral High in Scottsdale, Ariz., the nation's No. 14-ranked pro style quarterback by 247Sports.com. He was a four-year varsity starter, and holds the Arizona state records with 115 passing touchdowns and 3,653 passing yards. He also threw for 53 touchdowns in a season in high school, a 2A state record. Miller backed up C.J. Stroud before transferring from Ohio State Miller transferred from Ohio State where he played sparingly behind All-Big Ten standout quarterback C.J. Stroud. As a true freshman in 2020, Miller scored a touchdown for the Buckeyes on a 21-yard touchdown run in relief of Stroud against Nebraska. In 2021, Miller appeared in four games off the bench, completing 7 of 11 passes for 101 yards while adding 8 yards rushing. - Gainesville Sun

Florida quarterback Jack Miller has undergone thumb surgery on his throwing hand, a source confirmed on Friday. It's unclear how long the injury will sideline Miller, an Ohio State transfer who was projected to back up Anthony Richardson going into the 2022 season. A third-year sophomore, Miller backed up Justin Fields and C.J. Stroud in two seasons with the Buckeyes, posting 101 yards passing, 29 yards rushing and one rushing TD. He had recently drawn praise from head coach Billy Napier in fall camp for his ability to run the offense. "Jack's very capable, you know, and I would say this going all the way back to spring, he's moved our team," Napier said. The injury is a blow to Florida's depth at quarterback. Redshirt freshman Jalen Kitna, true freshman Max Brown and redshirt sophomore Kyle Engel remain as options to back up Richardson. Kitna, the son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, was rated as the 56th best quarterback in the country in the Class of 2021 per 247Sports composite rankings. - Gainesville Sun

Ohio State transfer quarterback Jack Miller drew praise Tuesday for his showing so far in Florida football fall camp. Head coach Billy Napier said that projected starting quarterback Anthony Richardson had been accurate and processing information well through the first week of camp. But Napier also pointed out that Miller has made strides since the spring. "Very pleased with Jack," Napier said Tuesday. "Yesterday in particular, we gave him a few reps with the first group just as a healthy experience for him. I thought he did some really good things, so you know, in this setting, at quarterback. "You're dependent on the players around you know, the offensive line, the tight ends and running backs, receivers. Jack's very capable, you know, and I would say this going all the way back to spring. He's moved our team."

A four-star Class of 2020 recruit from Scottsdale, Ariz., Miller transferred after C.J. Stroud won the starting job with the Buckeyes last fall and emerged as one of the nation's best quarterbacks. "The spring game, he threw a couple interceptions and all that, but he's consistently made the right decision," Napier said. "He's got arm talent. He's accurate, and he's a good athlete. So I think we made a really good decision there. Realize that he is a freshman, right? And he has four years to play." - Gainesville Sun

Scoping SEC QB transfers: Eleven quarterbacks transferred to 10 SEC schools this offseason, with South Carolina's Spencer Rattler the lone guaranteed starter of the entire group. Here ares On3.com ratings. No 8 - Jack Miller, Florida (from Ohio State). Miller had a chance to unseat Anthony Richardson as Florida's potential starting quarterback this spring, but AR-15 ran away with the competition. Although Miller, a former blue-chip recruit in the 2020 class, struggled in the spring game, he stands to be Richardson's primary backup and considering Richardson's recent injury history, the Ohio State transfer could certainly see action at some point this fall. - On3.com
